Kundalini Yoga

<< back to schedule

Fridays 17:45-18:45 £10 drop-in

We start the class with a brief tuning in using a kundalini mantra (the Adi Mantra). This is followed by warm up exercises or pranayama and then we will practice a kriya. A kriya is the name of the complete set of exercises for that class and has a focal point, such as the naval or the heart centre. After the kriya, there is a relaxation, followed by a short meditation. We tune out with a blessing song (May the Long Time Sun Shine Upon You) and a short mantra (Sat Nam) at the end.

Throughout the class, kundalini music will be played.

Kundalini Yoga is the “Yoga of Awareness”. It is considered the most comprehensive of yogas. This is because of the combination of physical exercises, meditations, mantras and breathing techniques.

The primary objective of Kundalini Yoga is, ‘to awaken the full potential of human awareness in each individual…its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness’.

Class Teacher – Suzy King

Suzi KingShe has practised Kundalini Yoga for 10 years and recently completed her Kundalini teacher training with Amrit Nam Sarovar in London and France under Karta Singh and Har Nal Kaur.

Having practised both Hatha and Bikram in the past, it wasn’t until she found Kundalini yoga, that she knew this was the yoga discipline for her. What grabbed her about Kundalini was the combination of both a physically demanding practice with a profoundly spiritual experience and she has been hooked on the “Yoga of Awareness” ever since, incorporating meditation and kundalini mantras into her daily life.

In addition she is a qualified children’s Kundalini yoga teacher, having trained with ‘Radiant Child Yoga’ under Shakta Kaur Khalsa and Cristin Tighe 5 years ago in London.

She is also a highly qualified and experienced psychotherapist and has worked in this field, primarily with children and young people for 12 years.
